I just heard that my income bracket is way up there in the top 10. NO FRICKIN WAY. The stats have got to be wrong. I feel poor.
The part that really ticks me off is not a new fact to me, and that is that those of us that bust our asses and actually use our talents, pay the most in taxes, both percentage wise and directly. We support the masses. I am so bummed out now. I wish the government would allow me to be irresponsible with my own money, instead of hijacking me and then being irresponsible with it anyway. Let me screw up my finances, pretty please? A flat tax might increase incentive in several directions.
Here is an IRS link if you like numbers: IRS 2005 Spreadsheet for Calendar Year 2003
According to that link, the Top 50% pay 96.54% of All Income Taxes and the top 1% pay more than a third. Depressing, I know.
